Stuff

Alright I've decided to update my blog.  I figure I'll just update it with interesting stuff I find on the net.

Here's the baby name wizard, it's a neat app that shows name usage over the past 2 centuries.   It seems the name "Dennis" peaked back in the 1940's.

No no I haven't died.  I'm still here, just haven't blogged in a very VERY long time.  So what's new.. hmm... just finished my undergraduate thesis.. took me bout two weeks to put it together and when it was all said and done 10,000 words, and 63 pages.  Now I can use it to keep papers flying away when there is a sudden gust of wind. :)

Tommorow will be my last day of classes ever it seems, well I don't expect to be back anytime soon.  Still looking for a job, but I have a contact at a company so maybe that will pull through.  We'll see.

Computer side of stuff, modded my computer over to water, so everything runs pretty nice and silent now.  I did however kill my video card, so I had to pick up a 9800 Pro, which I subsequently flashed up to a 9800XT.  Have to do some more modding, like get a jig saw and enlarge the hole where my radiator is, but I'll leave it to after exams.

Been wasting shitloads of time with Hans playing Lineage2, which is a super addicting rpg.  If anyone picks it up, we play on the Bartz server.

Nuck's won 1st game in the playoffs, so go nucks!

Happy New Year!  Hope everyone had a great time, I had lots of fun at Lynz's cocktail party this year, props to her for throwing it.  Now unfortunatley it's time for back to school.  Definately not looking forward to it, 8 oclock classes mean 6 oclock wake up times, and many mornings sleeping while standing in the shower.  Ah well it's my last semester, so I'll be finally done 5 years of hard work.. *cough* cough*.  Looking forward to having a job and bringing in the dough, mind you I need a job first :).  Gonna start looking once school starts.

Anyways off to bed, but before that, everyone has to check this out.  It's a Saddam parody of the Outkast song, Hey Yah, titled Hey Allah.  Anyways it's really well done.  Check. it out.

Whee! Las Vegas was a blast.  Left on the night of the 18th, and who else did I see? Jodi on the same flight!  I got to catch up with her sitting in the boarding lounge before our flight and that was nice.  Ended up getting into my hotel, Treasure Island, now called TI in some sort of marketing attempt to be cool to the 20 smths, at around 11, then hit the tables.  Ended up winning about 300 bucks at 3 card poker. Should've quit while I was ahead.. I was really on a roll, 4 straights, 2 flushs, and pairs almost every other hand.  Ah well ended up with an extra 100 at the end of the night.

Next day, headed out to the various casinos, Bellagio, Mirage, MGM Grand, Alladin, and took the shuttle bus out to a factory outlet mall bout 45 minutes outside Vegas.  Didn't buy too much, ended up getting a jacket, shirt, jeans, and a baseball cap for about 100 bucks.  So in essence the Casino treated me to clothes :).  Played some BJ and some 3 card poker, ended up down 50 for the night I think.

Another day of casino viewing, Caesars, Bellagio again (in which I won 200 at bj in about an hr), New York New York, Paris, Ballys, then headed back to the room to relax my aching feet.  Had buffet dinner and then watched the new pirate show at TI, wasn't too bad, not very classy tho.  Lost around 100 at BJ.

Last day, the kicked us out of our room at 11, so kinda sucks since we had to walk around till our flight at 10pm.  Walked the strip again, sat down in the racebook/sports section and watched the Colorado game.  Played some Let it Ride and Carribean Stud, all in all at the end of the trip I was up about 200.  Ate a quick dinner and then loaded onto the shuttle for the airport.  Sat on the bus for bout 1 1/2 hrs as we had to pick up ppl at the other hotels.  Got back into YVR bout 1, and then drove back to EB round 3.  Then crashed, was so frigging tired.  All in all, had a fun trip, I'd love to go with some friends next time.

Woooohooo! All done exams!  This semester was pretty lax, with only 3 exams.  2 chemistry and 1 compsci.  First exam was Polymer chemistry which wasn't too hard, my only gripe about it was that it was out of 40 marks, which corresponds to 40% of my final grade.  I hate those kind, always makes me extra worried about not getting something right.  But I think I did alright on that.

Forward to nine days later, next exam.  Inorganic Chemistry, well I did have 9 days to prepare, so I should do okay.  Mind you I think I spent about an hr each day on the topic and spent four times and much playing games, but *shrug* what are ya gonna do eh?  Exam was at 7pm, which kinda sucks, still I'd prefer it over 8:30am exams anyday.  Was fairly straight forward, except for one question.  One of those toughies where you have to choose to answer it either way and justify it.  Problem was that it seemed either answer had good justification.  I ended up changing it in the last 10 minutes and ended up getting it right.  GG insticts.  Then off to home to get ready for my last exam.

Next day, last exam Compsci 430, computers and society.  Terrance came over to study before hand, before we headed out for another 7pm exam.  I think we spent about 30 minutes doing review, and then spent the next 2 1/2 hrs playing Xbox.  Then we headed out, but not before stopping at McDick's for some good eating, mmmmm mmmmm!  Exam was pretty straight forward, had to guess a little bit on the multiple choice.  It was 2 marks for getting it right, and 1 mark for guessing it wrong.  So I figured if I can narrow it down to two choices, guessing nets me 1 pt for every 2 guesses.  So that's all done and we're heading back to the parking lot, ready to ditch this place for another semester and get the hell out, when all of a sudden the power dies.  Emergency lights kick in, and shortly after the generator starts up.  "Uh... how are we going to get out?"  So quickly hopped into the car, only to notice ppl stuck at the gate. "..... shit...."  Terrance tried to lift the arm, but luckily there was still an attendant there who called in some extra help, to disable the gate, otherwise we could've been there for quite a while.

So time for christmas, and making a stop to Vegas along the way.  Gonna be fun, hope I don't spend too much cash.  But gonna enjoy the christmas break for sure.
